Declan Rice has lost another tip that he wants Jesse Lingard to join him again at West Ham next season, in doubt about the Manchester United player’s future.
Lingard may seek a permanent United exit this summer after enjoying a productive period on loan at Hammers in the second half of last season. He has less than 12 months left on his United contract.
And after posting a photo on his Instagram page after returning to United training in Carrington this week, Lingard was inundated with comments – many of them from former teammates.
Former United star Adnan Januzaj and English playmaker Jack Grealish commented, but it was Rice’s comment that stood out.
He said, “I see you [sic], “followed by some emojis.
It could be interpreted as a demand that Lingard be reunited with Rice at London Stadium, or simply that the pair be close after a spell in the West Ham team together. Either way, the interest from the London club is unlikely for United to disappear by making a decision on Lingard’s future.
After speaking at the end of last season, following Lingard’s story at West Ham – where he netted nine goals in 16 games – manager David Moyes made his intentions over the United player clear.
“I hope Jesse is here [next season], “said the West Ham boss.
“We want to keep him, but there is no guarantee he is not our player. He has done an extraordinary job for us on loan and we will see where we go from there.
“I hope Jesse will also appreciate that West Ham have been good to Jesse. I think he was in a place where there might not be many other clubs where what he has done here would have happened. for him.
“We have given him an opportunity and a platform. [We had] a group of players who were in good shape in January, Jesse helped us, but he joined a group of players with momentum and a club that was doing well and on the way up. So yes. I want to keep Jesse. “
