Manchester United fans are hoping that Luke Shaw can convince Declan Rice to join the club while they’re on holiday together.
Though it’s been a quiet summer transfer window for United so far, with goalkeeper Tom Heaton the only signing to date, it looks set to soon burst into life.
The arrival of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund is imminent and United are also hopeful of agreeing a deal with Real Madrid for Raphael Varane in the next few weeks.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer isn’t satisfied with just those two massive signings, however, and is keen to improve his squad further with the addition of a defensive midfielder.
West Ham United talisman Rice is the top target but the Hammers won’t be giving him up without a fight ahead of their maiden Europa League campaign.
That’s where United fans hope Shaw will come in.
The two players were teammates during England’s run to the Euro 2020 final and much of the squad are now holidaying together in Mykonos, as they enjoy an extended break from club duties after a hard summer.
Some of the players went on a boat trip on Sunday and Rice posted a picture of himself alongside Shaw, as well as with best friend and Chelsea star Mason Mount.
Chelsea have also been heavily linked with Rice and inevitably fans of both clubs have rushed to the comments to beg their players to try and convince Rice to join them.
“Agent Shawberto getting close to rice so he comes united innit,” one fan wrote while another said: “Come on to Chelsea,” with a blue heart and football emoji.
Another United fan said: “Join Shawberto at MUFC,” with a fire emoji and another added: “Your place in Manchester United,” amid countless replied from both sets of fans writing either ‘agent Shaw’ or ‘agent Mount.’
