In the aftermath of Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Derby earlier this afternoon, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that a deal to sign Jadon Sancho should be announced soon. An agreement with Borussia Dortmund was announced earlier this month but the transfer is set to be finalized imminently.
When quizzed on why he wanted to sign Sancho so badly, the boss gave a short but sweet answer, insisting that he would not get drawn into talking about a player who is still not officially at his disposal.
It spells the end of a two-year long saga and United’s pursuit of Sancho has seemingly swiftly been replaced by another longstanding target. It’s no secret that Solskjaer is keen on strengthening his backline and Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is thought to be the prime target.

The interviewer pressed further on Manchester United’s transfer activity, as seen above, and asked him about Varane but the 48-year-old, once again, remained diplomatic in his response. “Same again!”, he said, followed by a mischievous laugh.
Having already signed Tom Heaton on a free transfer and Jadon Sancho set to be confirmed imminently, it is possible that the France international becomes the third incoming of the summer at Old Trafford.
